Our school is a place where students are supported academically, culturally, and personally, guided by community values, traditions, and a strong sense of identity.
We provide education from the early years through to high school, following the Manitoba provincial curriculum while ensuring Cree language, culture, and ways of knowing are woven into everyday learning. Our approach recognizes that academic success and cultural strength go hand in hand, preparing students for future opportunities while keeping them rooted in who they are and where they come from.
Our school includes classrooms for multiple grade levels, areas for cultural and land based programming, technology supported learning spaces, and facilities for physical education and recreation.
Our classrooms are supportive, welcoming environments where students are encouraged to ask questions, build skills, and learn together. Learning extends beyond the classroom through hands on activities, community involvement, and land based experiences. Elders and Knowledge Keepers play an important role in sharing stories, teachings, and traditional knowledge, helping students understand their responsibilities to themselves, their community, and the land.
Located within the Shamattawa community, Kisemattawa Kiskinwahamakewikamik School serves as both an educational hub and a place for community connection.
Kisemattawa Kiskinwahamakewikamik School is dedicated to preparing students for their next steps, whether that means post secondary education, skilled trades, or leadership roles within the community. We support our learners in building the skills and confidence they need for the future, while ensuring they remain connected to their Cree identity, culture, and community.
We are proud to help guide and support the next generation of leaders from Shamattawa First Nation.
