Programs and Services

We follow the Manitoba provincial curriculum to ensure students earn recognized credits and develop strong academic foundations, while also embedding Cree culture, language, and values across all grade levels.

Our programs support the whole learner, focusing on academic growth, personal development, and cultural connection. Students are encouraged to build confidence, problem solving skills, and a strong sense of belonging.

Our programs and services focus on:

  • Strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, science, and the arts
  • Cree language instruction and cultural learning throughout the school years
  • Land based education that connects students to traditional knowledge and the natural environment
  • Opportunities for leadership, teamwork, and personal responsibility
  • With support from Manitoba First Nations SchoolNet (MFNS) and partners, access to technology, learning resources, and cultural programming that strengthen student success

With support from Manitoba First Nations SchoolNet (MFNS) and others, we offer resources, cultural programs, and technology to strengthen learning.

Our Role in the Community

Our school is more than a place of learning. It is a central gathering space for the community, where families come together to celebrate achievements, share knowledge, and support one another. We are committed to helping students grow into confident, capable individuals who are ready to contribute both within Shamattawa and beyond.

We are not just a school. We are an active part of life in Shamattawa First Nation. Our school brings people together through:

  • Cultural activities, gatherings, and seasonal events
  • Sports, recreation, and wellness programs
  • Celebrations of student achievement and milestones
  • Learning opportunities that support families and the wider community
